The key to having a likable character is to add unique characteristics that will separate them from everyone else. Try to avoid common cliques, such as being the last survivor of their birth pack, or having a bunch of scars with no real meaning behind them. These kind of characteristics are overused, but that does not mean you have to avoid them. If you have a good way of weaving common cliques into a unique story for your character, go right ahead.
As far as appearances go, your wolf can be any realistic colors and size. They may even have up to 25% of domestic dog species in their bloodline, which may slightly differ their appearance compared to other wolves. Eyes can be any color you can think of, even multiple colors, though they must still look like a normal wolf eye. This means they cannot be pupilless and they cannot glow.
When starting off in the rp, you have three options.
Option 1 - Starting as a loner: Northern Frost is the only pack of wolves who totem spirits have dedicated themselves to. This means, no member would have a totem spirit before they joined the ranks of Northern Frost. If your character starts as a loner, they will not have a totem spirit. Once they are officially accepted into the pack they will gain one on the next full moon. This option will not allow you to choose which totem you want your wolf to have, it will be chosen based on how they behave around the pack members.
Option 2 - Starting in the pack: With this option you must mention in your characters history that they were either born in the pack or have been with the pack for awhile. This option means that your character will already have a totem before you begin rp'ing them. With this option you may choose any totem you like and add it to your characters profile. This option is also pre-selected if you choose to join an open bloodline.
Option 3 - If your character is below 1 year of age, you will automatically start in the pack, as loner pups are not accepted at this time. These wolves are too young and have yet to gain their totem. They must first reach 1 year of age, then they can gain their totem on the next full moon. Like option 1, you will not choose what totem you want, the totem will be selected based on your characters behavior.
Once you have decided what path you want your character to take, you can go ahead and calim them. Claiming a character will reserve the name for your use for two weeks. To claim a character, follow the instructions on the character claim post in the link above. This can also be done via the wolfquest thread, and is preferred if you have a wq account.
Once a claim as been accepted, you can start a profile for them. However, you may not rp this character until their profile has been approved by staff.
